The±1100kV Changji-Guquan HVDC UHV line project is a national strategic key project of "west-east power transmission program". It is an UHV transmission project with the highest voltage level, the largest transmission capacity, the longest transmission distance, and the most advanced technology in the world at present, which is of great and far-reaching significance for the promotion of the UHV power grid and the development of the global energy. The line starts from Wucaiwan Converter Station in Zhundong, Xinjiang and ends at Wannan Converter Station in Anhui. It passes through Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Henan, and Anhui, with a total length of approximately 3319 kilometers. The operation of the line will guarantee the power supply of the Yangtze River Delta region, and is of great significance to the optimal resources allocations , prevention and control of air pollution, and economic growth in the central and western regions.

Due to the long line length, large span, and complex terrain of the transmission corridor, the safe operation of the line faces great challenges. in October 2020, our distributed fault diagnostic system for transmission lines was applied, which can quickly determine the fault zone, clarify the responsibility of operation and maintenance, locate the fault point, and guide the rapid emergency repair, effectively shortening outage time, reducing the loss of transmission capacity caused by fault outage, and providing a guarantee for the rapid restoration of power supply after a line fault.

The 800kV Binjin Line ultra-high voltage direct current transmission line starts from Xiluodu, Sichuan, the second largest hydropower station in China, and ends at Jinhua Converter Station in Zhejiang. It passes through Sichuan, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Zhejiang,etc, with a total length of 1670.8 kilometers. This line has promoted the large-scale development of clean hydropower in Southwest China, transformed the resource advantages of the western region into economic advantages, and further enhanced the unique position of Sichuan Power Grid in the national clean energy supply pattern. It has important social and economic benefits for the economic and social electricity demand in the eastern region.

Due to the long line, high tower, corridor terrain complexity, the fault tripping risk on this line is high. In March 2016, our distributed fault diagnosis system for transmission lines was installed, which strengthened the targeted fault inspection of the line, improved the efficiency of fault inspection, and provided guarantees for the rapid restoration of power supply after line faults.
